About this deal

Important Note:To avoid popping or deflating your pad, it’s important to adjust the air volume depending on the outside temps. If it’s cold, the air in your mattress will compress, and when it’s warm, it’ll inflate. Don’t blow it up all the way if it’s warm out or it will pop! I sleep with a quilt, and will admit that on the colder nights, I could feel some small cold spots where both sides of the pad are welded together, and I imagine that could be a bigger deal if you were pushing the pad to its limits, temperature wise. If you sleep in a bag, it won't make any difference to you. I can be a cold sleeper, and expect that this pad would keep me happy into the teens before I'd want more insulation. Secondly, this is a lightweight pad, as I’ve already stressed, and it is non-insulated and designed for summer. Its low R-value at 1.3 means this is not for high altitudes or mountaineers. That said, I used this pad at 8,500 feet on a 40-degree night without any insulation and just my sleeping bag for warmth. It was completely fine at this temperature.

New, light, insulated V — still heavier, but more acceptably so (3.5 oz) — small enough difference that I'm willing to bet w/be worth a superior baffle/channel design. and I prefer the rectangular shape vs. the taper. (which i could get w/an Xtherm, but I don't need an Xtherm, and would weigh more)The Static V features a 75-denier face fabric, which feels quite tough and durable. We used this pad a lot throughout our test period, and we weren’t particularly delicate with it. Through a 2-week glacier trip in Alaska, numerous desert nights, and multiple car camping trips, we never experienced any punctures, holes, or tears. We anticipate that this pad would withstand several seasons of hard use. Ease of Use When all is said and done, you’re not buying this pad for winter camping, you are buying it because it’s a comfortable, lightweight summer sleeping pad. Score: 2.5/5 Comfort/Stability Insulation is important even in summer because you lose body heat to the ground. With an R-Value of only 1.3, the Static V2 is not recommended for cold temperatures. If you’re looking for something warmer, have a look at the ThermaRest NeoAir XLite NXT. I give the design a 5, though this is something each individual will need to test out for themselves. I like that Klymit is innovative and pushing the level of comfort and weight in their sleeping pads. Side Rails: Integrated into the patterning and construction, they provide a secure, comfortable sleep by centering you on the pad and inhibiting air movement while tossing and turning.

For R-rating, the Xlite rating is fine for me thus far. I only want to match it. Price factors in too. Klymit's Static V insulated sleeping mat is mid weight rather then ultralight, but for the extra weight you get a mat with a robust face fabric, a really decent R-Value and quite a comfortable nights sleep. At 6cm deep it offers a good level of comfort, especially compared to self inflating models. On a personal note, I am curious to see how far I can push this Kylmit pad into cold temperatures. Despite the low R-value, I had no trouble sleeping on this non-insulated pad at 40 F (4.4 C) degrees. I didn’t use an insulation or a blanket between the pad and tent and my sleeping bag either. Eventhough this is a summer pad, it kept me warm as we approach fall out here in the Sierra Nevada mountains. This is one of the many reasons I am super impressed with Kylmit pads. Klymit's Static V Insulated sleeping mat uses synthetic insulation to deliver a warm sleeping mat with optimised baffle pattern for comfort. Nejsem převalovač, ale ti kdo jsou, před převalením z karimatky(a může to být třeba i z lavice) zapadnou do takové mezery na okraji karimatky a tak si můžou uvedomit, že by se měli vrátit. The Klymit Static V2 is one of the best-valued sleeping pads on the market. For one, it’s the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve used, providing plenty of cushion and stability. Klymit is making its mark in the world of sleeping pads because of their ultralight set up and innovation. Their patented body mapping technology really sets them apart when it comes to comfortable, light sleeping pads. The V has an R value of 1.3, the Insulated at 4.4 — difference in volume is about 1L vs 2.5L of space (still half the size of the Trail lite). I can see how some sleepers wouldn’t like the V-shape or need time to get used to it, but both my boyfriend and I felt comfortable and stable on this pad. What is more, I found the Static V2 is much quieter than my other pad! Let’s take a look at what makes a sleeping pad comfortable. The optimal sleeping pad will feel as light as a feather; you want to feel like you are sleeping on air – no pressure points or deflation throughout the night!

These baffles are unique to Klymit. Klymit created and uses Body Mapping Technology, which puts pressure in key places for sleep comfort. More on sleeping pad baffle types in our Guide. A moderate weight for an insulated air pad. There are lighter options, but you’ll have to pay more for them. This is an insulated pad with a relatively high R-Value. Above 4 is enough for all 4 seasons. More on R-Value and Temperature rating in our Guide. As a self-inflating pad user, I’m fond of the whole self-inflation thing. You open the valve, wait 30 minutes, and your mat is almost completely blown up for you. (Yes, you still have to put in the final few breaths for firmness.) Klymit uses a standard twist and pull valve. It’s well made and works well. More on sleeping pad valve types in our Guide.I liked that the pad had a tendency to move "with" me; it's got some vertical and horizontal stretch to it once it's inflated so even when I tossed and turned, it stayed underneath me. Twist-Pull Valve: Secure and simple, it allows inflation in as few as 10 breaths and opens wide for rapid, complete deflation. The Klymit Insulated Static V is three inches wider than your standard sleeping pad. This gives you more room for a better sleep. Your elbows might not fall off! Your breath inflates this pad. That makes it lighter, but it takes effort to set up at the end of the day. More on the different sleeping pad types in our Guide. Both myself (a cold sleeper and 5’6” woman), and my boyfriend (a hot sleeper and 6′ male) tested the Klymit sleeping pad.

Durability wise, I haven’t had any problems, and it’s been part of my sleep kit on every outing this summer and fall, all across Western Canada and the US. I definitely wouldn’t toss it on the ground and use it as a place to sit at camp – living inside a tent or perhaps on a floorless shelter accompanied by a thin foamy is perhaps a more appropriate use. I have been using the V Ultralite SL in my MSR Carbon Reflex 1 tent, usually with no ground sheet, and have also found that it doesn’t slip and slide all over the place during the night like other similar lightweight options out there. The tent floor material likely plays a part in that, but my Therm-a-Rest NeoAir was notorious for sliding all over the place throughout the night, prompting me to add small blobs of silicone to the underside of the pad for some extra grip (shout out to Gary at Western Mountaineering for that tip!). I already have a Thermarest Trail Lite, which has an R value of 3.4. I find it comfortable, but it's a bit big at about 5L of space used. Doporučuji pod karimatku brát nějaký kus plachty, kvůli zašpinění i kvůli propíchutí. Na druhou stranu vyzkoušeno, víc než jedna vrstva středně silné plachty nemá smysl! Anti Microbial Laminate: Permeates the inside laminate to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, including fungus and bacteria, that can cause odors and material damage. I just spent 60+ days in a row sleeping on the insulated static v. I am thoroughly convinced that there isn't a better pad for the money. I was comfortable and warm every night, though temps never got lower than 30ish.

Beyond comfort, the Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping Pad thoroughly surprised me with its ease of use. Klymit’s sleeping pads are warrantied for life against manufacturing defects and workmanship issues. However, sleeping pad are notorious for being difficult to return and replace because of user error, popping, etc. Klymit has a great reputation, so if you think your pad is faulty, let them know. We tested and reviewed the Klymit Insulated Static V. Klymit makes a number of different versions of this sleeping pad — all them have the V-shaped baffles, a twist and pull valve, and are wider than normal pads. If you want an uninsulated pad, the Static V or Static V2 are good options. They weigh around a pound each, but know that they have no insulation.
